Commenting on blogs is a very good way to promote your Web site. The problem is, most blog software puts a special "nofollow" attribute on blog comments. Here is a strategy for to use dofollow blog search to locate blog posts where comments will increase your page rank. When getting backlinks to your Web site, having excellent content is not enough to make your site show up in search engines. You also need quality backlinks (links to your Web site from other sites). A great technique for getting backlinks is to comment on blogs that are related to the topic area of your Web site. The good thing about blogs in terms of getting backlinks (each blog comment usually has a link to your site) is you usually don't have to log in to write a comment. The downside with blog commenting is that most blog software tags comment links as "nofollow". The nofollow tag was invented around 2005 in an attempt to cut down on the amount of blog comment spam received by blogs. Nofollow indicates to search engines not to follow links from blog comments so that spammers don't earn page rank points for flooding blogs with comments. Sadly, has not slowed comment spammers. Unfortunately, nofollow also penalizes normal comment writers who are not writing spam. The "dofollow movement" originated in opposition to the rise of nofollow. Dofollow bloggers are bloggers that manually moderate their blog comments and remove the nofollow tag. The implication for promoting your Web site is that you should concentrate on commenting on dofollow blogs. It is tough to find dofollow blogs, they are quite rare, most blogs are nofollow in their original configuration. Luckily, dofollow search engines have arisen to fix this problem. Dofollow search engines (specifically those for blogs) allow you to search a list of only verified dofollow blogs. The ideal way to use one is to search for the phrases that you want your site rank for. Once you've found a good dofollow blog to comment on, leave a meaningful comment. Take time to read the original author's post, because your comment has to be well written in order to meet with the blog owner's approval. Once they have approved your comment, you will earn a dofollow link. Dofollow links signify a vote for your site to search engines and will help your Web site show up higher in search results. |
